Bookspring Fest
Come one, come all to a free fun filled outdoor festival celebrating books and fun family activities! Special guests will take the stage to read some of their favorite stories aloud, including our founder, Chrysta, at 4pm! Additionally, families and individuals will be able to win fun prizes with carnival games and enjoy some snacks and brews.
Day Without Childcare
On May 13, we’re taking action: some childcare providers, with the support of the families they serve, are shutting their doors, some are calling out sick or closing down early, and all of us are standing in solidarity to draw attention to the national crisis that our childcare system is in.

Community Book Fair
Kidds Community Books Fair, which aims to promote literacy and reading from birth to sixth grade. This event is open to families and the community, and we encourage everyone to sign up for the program. Free books will be provided for all attendees!

Read the Room will be doing a Parent Champions training for Families as Partners.
Halloween
In honor of this spooky season, join Read the Room at our free community event on Saturday, October 28th from 11-12:30 at Elroy Community Library in Del Valle. We will explore bravery and facing our fears through storytelling, movement, and music. To top it all off, we will end the entire event with a Trunk or Treat! It'll be unBOOlievably fun!

Join us for an unBOOlievably fun and spooky celebration of Halloween and Dia de los Muertos. Read the Room will lead an exploration of bravery and facing our fears through storytelling, movement, and music.

Pride is for Families
Families and children can spend the day in the park exploring a variety of hands-on art and cultural learning activities including drag queen storytime, ‘Taste the Colors of the Rainbow’ with Mom & Pops All Natural Frozen Pops, Pride Family Portraits, and a Pride Parade in the Park.

Playdate at the Park
Read the Room will be providing a fun activity as part of the Austin Parks Foundation’s Playdates in the Park series. Enjoy story time, make crafts, and MOVE AND GROOVE with our friends from Creative Action!
Music & Movement sessions are active and designed to inspire creativity, encourage physical and emotional development, and support bonding and connection for parents and children. Classes contain singing, beatboxing, guided movement exercises, and end in a dance party for the whole family!

May Storytime Event
Read the Room is having a Summer Reading Prep event at Del Valle Community Center from 3:30-5:30. We'll be doing a "Storytime Training" for parents with crafts, food, story time, and a book giveaway sponsored by BookSpring!

April Reading Event
Greater Austin Reading Coalition and Read the Room are having a FREE community event at the Pflugerville Public Library on April 22nd. Families can come to the library and get tips on helping reluctant readers. There will be activities, giveaways, and food!
Spring Fling at Turner Roberts
Turner Roberts Recreation Center will be hosting a Spring Fling with Equidad ATX! Read the Room will have a table with reading activities and fun give aways.
